NEOMAGIC® ACQUIRES ACL OF TEL AVIV, ISRAEL

Combining Embedded DRAM and Array Processing Technologies for Web-Friendly Digital Cameras

Santa Clara, Calif. - February 18, 1999 - NeoMagic Corporation (Nasdaq: NMGC), pioneer of embedded memory and logic technology, today announced that it has acquired the assets and intellectual properties of ACL of Tel Aviv, Israel from Robomatix Technologies Ltd. (Bulletin Board: RBMXF), for an undisclosed sum. As part of this acquisition, NeoMagic will acquire a team of 10 engineering and research professionals from ACL who have developed an innovative array-based processing architecture which is extremely efficient at complex image processing algorithms.

Prakash Agarwal, president and chief executive officer at NeoMagic said, "We are pursuing a multi-market strategy extending beyond the notebook arena and into other markets and applications that benefit from mobility, small form factor, battery life, and the performance enhancements that come from our MagicWare™ DRAM integration. Growth in the popularity of the internet is driving consumer demand for images and videos to make engaging web experiences. This in turn fuels the need for small, highly portable still and video cameras which capture digital multimedia content in convenient formats such as MPEG-2. Combining ACL's innovative array processing architecture with our embedded DRAM technology will enable us to offer exceptional image processing performance and low power for a great variety of small, highly portable digital multimedia devices and internet appliances."

Amnon Fisher, senior vice president and general manager of NeoMagic's Consumer Products Division said, "The technology of array processing is well known in academia and has been used in aerospace and defense-related activities for years. ACL has been active in applying this technology to industrial machine-vision systems. Now as part of NeoMagic, we will accelerate the commercialization of this technology for consumer applications involving the capture and compression of MPEG-2 video and other cross-platform formats."
